FABRICS – We sell our fabric by the square inch, custom cut for your design. In addition to the usual Aidas, Linens and Evenweaves manufactured by Zweigart, there are a number of companies producing lovely hand-dyed fabrics for our stitching pleasure. Although it’s impossible to have every fabric from every designer on hand at all times, we do regularly stock fabrics from the following companies.

FIGURING DESIGN AND FABRIC SIZE
Formula: design stitch count divided by number of stitches per inch equals design size. Add 6 – 8 inches for fabric size.
Divide the design stitch count by the number of stitches per inch depending on the fabric you are using. This gives you the design size in inches. Add 6-8 inches to the design size to get your fabric size. This allows a 3-4 inch border all the way around for framing and finishing.
Example 1:
Design stitch count 140 w x 230 h; 16 count aida fabric.
140 divided by 16 = 8.75 inches (round up to 9”)
230 divided by 16 = 14.4 inches (round up to 15”)
For a 3” border all around add 6”; cut fabric 15” x 21”.
For a 4” border all around add 8”; cut fabric 17” x 23”.
Example 2:
Design stitch count 140 w x 230 h; 28 count linen over 2 threads.
Divide 28 by 2 to determine the number of stitches per inch.
28 divided by 2 = 14 stitches per inch.
Then follow the same formula given above.
140 divided by 14 = 10”
230 divided by 14 = 16.4” (round up to 17”)
For a 3” border all around add 6”; cut fabric 16” x 23”.
For a 4” border all around add 8”; cut fabric 18” x 25”.
