OUR FAVORITE CROSS-STITCH SHOP by Carole Overton There is a super cross-stitch store in the town of Belvedere And those of us who've been there hold it very dear. The proprietors can help us find just what we need. Nancy Bailey and Sharon McCabe are friendly and skilled in deed. They give advice and find supplies, they make us feel like friends. They compliment our progress, their support just never ends. With floss and fabrics, graphs and charts - a wide selection, too. The perfect project will soon be found and they'll frame it when we're through. They have classes, trips, and stitch nights, and afghan club night, too Stitch-a-thons and stitch retreats - there are many things to do. Meeting other stitchers, admiring their work, sharing ideas and problems, is definitely a "perk." Friendship, supplies, and expertise - who could ask for more? COUNTED STITCHES is by far our favorite cross-stitch store! BACKGROUND: Counted Stitches fulfills a long-time dream of owning a cross-stitch shop for cousins Nancy Bailey and Sharon McCabe. After four years of planning, saving, scavenging for fixtures and stitching models, that dream became a reality in January of 1994. Since then we've had a wonderful time meeting new friends and helping them develop their needlework skills through classes, retreats, stitch-a-thons and twice monthly stitch nights. Counted Stitches is the only needlework shop in our area devoted exclusively to counted cross-stitch. It is a well-stocked specialty shop featuring current and traditional designs and many of the exciting new threads and fabrics on the market today. OF LOCAL INTEREST: We are fortunate to have a very talented needlework designer living in our area. Angie Newton of Canterbury Designs has been designing wonderful cross-stitch pieces for over 30 years. She creates beautifully detailed quilt designs, humorous yet realistic animals, lovely flowers and reproduction samplers.
